Title I Math – Room #1

After spending close to a year teaching in a shared “cubby” with other tutors, education technicians, and student groups, an opportunity arose that gave me the ability to use the Title I math room for my own teaching. While the room was small, fitting five students and myself comfortably, it came without the constant distractions that the “cubby” had included.

Title I Math - Room #1 - Student Area

This is the “student area” of the room. The table comfortably holds four students. As you can see, there is a bulletin board set up for student work. Currently the groups were working on tessellations.

Title I Math - Room #1 - Projector/Information

The empty bulletin board seen here was used only for the overhead projector. Having a separate area for the projector allowed me to be able to use both it and the white board during different parts of the lesson without a lot of set up and tear down.

Title I Math - Room #1 - Whiteboard

This shot shows not only another glimpse of the student area, but also rounds out the description of the room. On the whiteboard there are a few area that are “standard” for what I have on the board at all times. Along the top, from left to right, there are spaces for: the day’s schedule, inspirational quote of the day, important announcements, and the date. Underneath the date, going down on the right side,  is a listing of homework for each group. This listed not only homework assigned by their teacher, but my “suggested” homework for what they should be working on to help improve their math skills.
