Title I Math – Room #2
Due to some restructuring, my second year as a Title I Math Ed. Tech. saw me in yet a different room. The huge plus side to this move was that, not only was I give a lot more space, but it was my space. My students and I now had an area that we didn’t need to share with other groups. This made teaching and designing lessons not only easier, but gave me more opportunities for hands-on activities than I had before.

This was my “teaching area.” While I was confined to a wheeling wipe-off board, it was nice being able to have a table that allowed me to see the entire group at once. The shelves off to the right contained the week’s lessons, assignments, and pass-backs organized by grade. This was a wonderful addition since previously everything would end up just as a pile on my desk. While I normally wouldn’t have students face the windows, in this case it was the optimal set up of the room. On that same note, I was able to close the blinds if needed.

This shot shows a really good glimpse of the word wall that the students and I were in the process of putting together. You can also see the additional storage place I had for extras and the door leading to the next math room. The only draw back to this room was that you had to disrupt the other Title I math class to enter and leave, meaning that we had to try our hardest to sync our schedules.

This shot is mainly here to help round out the feel of the room. As you can see, my desk was place across from the door in order to allow students to easily see if I was available. It’s also positioned behind where the students sit. This allowed me to keep an eye on them during tests and quizzes without having to worry about stressing them out with my walking around the room.
